On May 17, 2020, Mayor Eric Hogue of Wylie, Texas, sent an email to city council member Jeff Forrester requesting that only men be selected to lead the opening prayer at the city council meeting. The mayor’s email sparked social media outrage and there is a protest planned during the upcoming city council meeting scheduled for May 26th. Does the Bible teach that women should be silent in the church? Is prayer before a city council meeting appropriate? Watch this video for a Christian insider’s take on Mayor Hogue’s email and how Christians should respond to this incident.

Why Doesn’t God Give More Specific Guidance?

People sometimes wonder, “Why God doesn’t always give us specific guidance about what to do?” When God told Noah to build the ark, he told him what size to make it, which materials to use, and what to bring on board. But many of us don’t receive that type of specific guidance from God. Why? God has given us basic guidance for life, telling us what is right and wrong. With the guidance and boundaries he has given us, there are a variety of ways that we can bring goodness and beauty into the world. I think half the fun for God is seeing our creativity. What will we do with what he has given us? What unique decisions and expressions will you make that delight the heart of God?

How to Read the Bible

People sometimes have the idea that the Bible is a difficult book to read, but most of it really isn’t difficult. The Bible is an amazing book that reveals who God is and tells us the highlights of God’s history with humanity. Much of the Bible is exciting, some of it is a bit dull, and some parts are horrifying, but all of it is enlightening, and it has a great ending that includes you. This video is a short introduction to what is in the Bible, along with an invitation to read the Bible with me on live stream.

Coronavirus: Is It from God?

Coronavirus is becoming a significant concern that is causing fear in many people. When something like this happens, people wonder why and sometimes falsely attribute natural disasters and epidemics to God. Is God responsible for Coronavirus? We can look at the life of Jesus to get the answer to this question. Jesus had one response to sickness: he cured it. We should consider God the healer of sickness, not the bringer of sickness. This video explores God’s work in the world and how it relates to Coronavirus and to your life.

If You Let Yourselves Be Circumcised, Christ Will Be of No Value to You?

Galatians 5:2 says that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. What does this mean? What does circumcision have to do with the value of Christ for us? The Bible has a lot to say about men chopping off their foreskins. In this video, I will explain why Paul is getting so riled up about circumcision in his letter to the Galatians, and how that applies to Christian men today.

Help for the Lonely

Many people feel completely alone in this world. Even some people who are rich and famous and seem to be surrounded by people who adore them still feel lonely. In this video, I hope to help those who have felt in despair because of loneliness by sharing some words of truth from the Lord Jesus. The truth is that you are never alone.

Is It True That Everything Happens for a Reason?

People often say that everything happens for a reason. However, this idea isn’t Biblical and it gives people the wrong idea about God. When people say that everything happens for a reason, they usually mean that whatever happens is exactly what God wanted to happen. That isn’t true. There are 7 billion humans running around doing terrible things that God doesn’t want them to do. We shouldn’t say that everything happens for a reason, but we can say that no matter what tragedy we experience, God has a way of redeeming it and making it part of our story of victory.

How Did People Who Lived Before Jesus Get Saved?

Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world and that anyone who believes in Jesus is forgiven of sins and has the promise of eternal life. But what about the people who lived before Jesus died on the cross? If Jesus is the only way to be forgiven and saved, what happened to all those people? Those people were saved in the same way people are saved today: by faith. People who trusted in God to forgive their sins were saved by faith. Think of salvation like a credit card. The people who lived before Jesus ran up a huge debt, and Jesus paid the bill later.
